About The Heart of Social Work Award
In 1995, NANFED established the Heart of Social Work Award to recognize and acknowledge excellence in our partners in social work field education. In the years since, the award has honored field instructors who have made outstanding contributions to field education and the social work profession.
Nominees are evaluated in three categories:
Skill in field instruction and teaching
Service to the University / School / Program
Creativity and innovation in field instruction

Dear NANFED Members and Consortia Chairs,
The North American Network of Field Educators and Directors (NANFED) is pleased to invite nominations for the 2024 Heart of Social Work Award. This prestigious and historic award celebrates excellence in social work field/practicum instruction.
We encourage you to nominate a field/practicum instructor who has demonstrated exceptional mentorship and educational supervision for students in your program. The eligibility criteria for the Heart of Social Work Award include:
Demonstrated excellence in field instruction and teaching.
Professional contributions to the University, School, and Program through service; and
Observable Creativity and/or innovation in field instruction practices.
As a token of appreciation, each individual who submits a nomination will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card.
Key Details:
Nomination Deadline: Monday, February 3, 2025
Award Announcement: March 2025, in conjunction with National Social Work Month
Award Recognition: Recipients will be honored virtually and will receive a $500 prize.
